Some users of Internet Explorer 7's beta are reporting problems accessing crucial update sites, but Microsoft denies any system-wide glitch. Some users of Internet Explorer 7's beta are reporting problems accessing the crucial Windows Update and Microsoft Update sites, but Microsoft denied any system-wide glitch. "Tried going to Windows Update or Microsoft Update w/ IE7 beta yet?" wrote Evan Burroughs, an IE 7 user, to TechWeb in a Thursday e-mail. "It crashes the browser. How does a beta user fix or update the browser when it crashes at the site it uses to update and fix flaws?" Burroughs' experience is not the only complaint about Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview; numerous messages on Microsoft's official IE 7 newsgroup, as well as the one dedicated to Windows Update issues, strike the same tone. | ||

Automatic Updates. Like normal people who have a brain. I've found that there are 100 times as many people online complaining about Firefox's atrocious memory leak problem than there are complaints about IE 7. And Firefox is supposed to be out of beta (Of course you can't tell that from the massive number of security problems and bugs in each of the new versions that come out every week or so) |

| Odd. I was able to run Windows Updates just fine from my installation of IE 7 beta. Must be other factors involved. |

| I've had lots of issues with IE7. I put it on a "beta" machine that has lots of crap on it so I can't completely blame IE7 but it's about time for a reinstall of everything on that machine because stuff just is messed up. IE7 trashed my office add on's for stuff like Mappoint. I can't update Office anymore and just get failed update installations. Lot's of stuff when far south upon the installation of IE7. |

I just went to M.U.D. with IE7 Preview & I did not have any problems, must be thier setup or install.

Why, IE 7 beta preview stated specifically on the site it was a preview for IT personell not a general preview. And things will be broken.
That said I have it installed on my main machine which is primarily a beta machine. and did office updates and MUD, on this machine and Have it installed on my parents machine. am I running into issues. yes. have to shut it down with CAD on a hourly basis. on both the machines. although both have made it through MAD. And agreed with the statement of automatic updates. thank god vista will get rid of the stupid activex setup that is the Current. el |

| if you are having problems remove it. I have used IE7 on one of my systems and it works fine. Done microsoft update with it and that worked fine too. You would think that people would get the idea that beta software will have bugs in it. What are they suppose to do rush a fix out the door for people who can't figure out how to go to add/remove programs and get rid of IE7 if it becomes that big of a deal to them. |

| Just to be clear...I'm not complaining about my problems...I'm just saying that I'm having them on a beta don't give a shit machine that has more crap on it than I can shake a stick at. The whole purpose of the comment area is to expound upon the article. |

tomaras, and not saying you were complaining.
I guess for those that are complaining in the article or on the news groups. It is a stinking beta if it doesn't work, file a bug, and remove it. and Hopeing they didn't load it on production machines as it has been stated several times that IE7 beta 2 preview does have some unistall issues. and at least you loaded it on a known bad machine. :) that you plan on wiping. btw on my parents machine I have a seperate test partition that I can set to wipe also when testing these things out. I primarily test it from a generic user point of view like my parents. So far I can see that IE 7 will be slow on uptake. at home and especially in the enterprise (training cost) as I had to spend a good hour with my dad and a good 5 hours with my mom before the felt comfortable with the new layout. el |

Yes, IE7 craches during WindowsUpdate.
Just turn off stupid fishing filter and everything will be ok. IE7 have a lot of bugs. From my personal experience - zooming. If you'll try to play with zooming ability (especially if page has some active content such as WMF) then after some time IE7 causes video memory curruption. Funny result! :) |
