Microsoft Corp is softening its position on rival web services authentication initiative the Liberty Alliance Project, after a top company executive predicted customers will demand that Liberty-developed protocols work with its Passport service. Recently appointed developer and platform evangelist Eric Rudder singled out the banks' Automated Teller Machine (ATM) network as an example of competing systems from rival services providers that have been forced into interoperability by customers. | ||

But fails to mention that this ATM nonsense results in fee after fee after fee. Everyone along the line charges a darned fee.

Agree with prowsej. I derive signifigant benefit from paying taxes. My home is safe, I have a nice road in front of it, stable electrical power and clean water, etc. etc.
I do derive some benefit from paying ATM charges, as it means there are more available machines in convenient locations. However I don't feel the current charges are at all fair. I get charged both by my bank and by the ATM owner. The charge from the ATM owner is somewhat understandable as they have invested in putting in a machine and hire a guard to come out periodically and add more money. The charge from my bank has very little if any justification. |

Gimme a machine gun and I solve both the ATM fee issues as well as defending my home.
