Is anyone actually using Virtual Server?? Anyone with serious virtualization needs typically uses VMWare.

Have you actually tried Virtual server 2005? I am using it for my Dev testing and using 8 virtual machine on my Virtual server 2005. I agree that nothing compares to ESX but I prefer Virtual server 2005 to GSX. |

We have one server running VS 2005 with 6 virtual machines running. I like it to compartmentalize applications.
I do use VMware on the desktop because of the snapshots. VMware Workstation doesn't run as a service, GSX is pretty expensive and ESX is very expensive. Now that VS 2005 R2 is only 99$, it wouldn't pay to waste money on GSX. I plan to upgrade to VS 2005 R2 ASAP ... and as a beta tester, I get a free copy. :) |

| #3: I tried Virtual Server but ended up preferring VMWare. That was back in the VMWare 4.x days, and I'm now running 5.5. |
