Will the Real November Vista Build Please Stand Up? | |

A new Community Technology Preview release of Vista, made available to select testers last week, may or may not make it out to a wider group. What's going on with the Windows CTP program? When Microsoft released its first Windows Vista Community Technology Preview (CTP) build this fall, company officials said they did so in the name of transparency. But testers say Microsoft is being anything but transparent about the November CTP build of the next version of Windows, which some company watchers are speculating will go to a wider pool of testers on Tuesday. However, one tester, who requested anonymity, said he believed there would be no November CTP, and possibly no additional CTPs at all. | ||

My belief (as a tester) is that there will a CTP soon and possibly more CTPs after that.

| As I understand the story, the plan was to not release a November CTP because beta 2 was gonna hit December 7. When that got delayed, they decided to put out a November CTP afterall. Build 5259 even made it out to TAP testers early last week. It was thought this build would hit the normal testers soon after, but that seems to not be the case. I wonder if there's something wrong with it, or something they don't want seen yet. |
