Microsoft Realigns for Next Wave of Innovation and Growth | |

In order to drive greater agility in the execution of its software and services strategy, Microsoft Corp. today announced a realignment of the company into three newly formed divisions, each of which will be led by its own president. The Microsoft Platform Products & Services Division will be led by Kevin Johnson and Jim Allchin as co-presidents; Jeff Raikes has been named president of the Microsoft Business Division; and Robbie Bach has been named as president of Microsoft Entertainment & Devices Division. In addition, the company said Ray Ozzie will expand his role as chief technical officer by assuming responsibility for helping drive its software-based services strategy and execution across all three divisions. The company also announced that Allchin plans to retire at the end of calendar year 2006 following the commercial availability of Windows Vista™, the next-generation Microsoft® Windows® operating system. | ||

| Gosh... it's sad to see Allchin go. Of Microsoft's public figures, he's my favorite. He always comes across as candid, giving praise where praise is due and not holding back from pointing out where they've failed. And of the public figures, he seems to come across as one of the brightest when it comes to technology. I hope Vista lives up to its promises, as it would be quite a testament to Allchin's contributions to the company. |

i guess i missed the first wave of innovation.
the growth has been undeniable and quite extraordinary to this point. ah… to see into the future of ms for more growth. i don’t the market thinks they still have what it takes. but i for one would never bet agin’ ‘em. |

| #2: the first wave was back in the 80's when MS actually innovated now & then. The second wave came when they decided it was cheaper & easier to watch and see which companies did the innovation, and then either steal their IP or buy them out. I expect the next wave will be more of the same. |
