Microsoft has hired former FBI Special Agent Edward Gibson as its new chief security advisor in the UK. Gibson was with the FBI for 20 years, and had been the organisation's Assistant Legal Attaché in the UK for the past five years. He specialised in asset tracing and confiscation, money laundering, intellectual property theft and financial crime. "Ed brings to Microsoft a wealth of international experience in fighting crime and fraud within the public and financial sectors," said Nick McGrath, head of platform strategy at Microsoft. | ||

I'm not going to argue for or against communism or capitalism or socialism or any of the other isms because as any educated individual knows they all have their pro's and con's. Communism on at least a theoretical scale works remarkably well - the problem is that it has yet to work in a practical sense when you're dealing with humans (you know, the greed, corruption etc.) Capitalism which you hold to such a high regard also has had and has many issues with it when applied practically. These are not black and white areas where one is good and the other is bad. My issue was with you somehow jumping from Castro to Communism to Cuba to Linux to OSS = Cancer. Calm down, if you're going to start making such ridiculous claims then at least admit at the same time that Windows is used in just as many if not more communist countries and other non-democratic or non-capitalist countries which too must be a threat to what America stands for. And following your line of reasoning then we have to jump to Proprietary Code = cancer in the same way as you have. Which as we both know is ludicrous! Is this just the new tactic to try and put people off OSS? Spread fear about it somehow linking to communism? What are you afraid of so much? That people will actually want to use something other than windows? Are you afraid of Windows losing their current communist users and dictators? Is communism only worthy of mention when someone else releases an OS in such a country? Finally, I'm curious about your comment regarding the enemies that America currently faces - those that hate everything America stands for. Let's just say for arguments sake that Cuba really does hate everything America stands for (which I'm sure we can both agree is false) - why do you care what OS people use there? America starts at Canada and ends at Mexico, any further than that and countries have their own leaders and laws, why do you care what some other country uses for an OS? Do you somehow want to enforce that those countries should use Windows as Linux is against what America stands for? Doesn't that sound a little like dictating to others what they should do - completely out of your jurisdiction? How would you feel if someone else was dictating what you can and can't do? Would you have a lot of love for such a place? |
