Latch...so Parkker/NotParkker et al, is the only person who tries to use some understanding of the world, its history and political science to add to an understanding of how those very things influence pundits who speak and write to technology issues...Parkker and no others...assuming of course that Parkker is wrong/bad...? I don't assess he is.
Present one argument, please, that is based upon science and observable, measurable characteristics....?was communism beneficial; did it work? No! It resulted in the murder of millions and abject poverty on a gross scale. Did/Does communism respect individual rights to property/liberty? No!
Similarly, legal disputes, like Eolas were challenged and decided in open and fair courts - and not just MS was on the side against nearly all of these cases. Eolas and others do not deserve to be made whole for failing in open markets.
CSMAC was observing a legitimate connection between ideaology and action - motivations drive actions, else actions are not taken. Clearly, the cradle to grave socialists offend his and most Americans sense of what it means to own property. It is of course why OSS has and will continue to fail in this country - it is just alien to us and always will be. The state cannot and will not control the people - it is just that simple and anything that even hints at it, garners immediate and passionate opposition.
