Microsoft Puts IE Enhancements on Fast Track | |

"Longhorn" won't make its first appearance until the end of next year at the earliest, but with enterprises demanding better security tools, Microsoft Corp. is not waiting for the next version of Windows to ship before it makes changes to improve the security of some key components such as Internet Explorer, which will see a significant security upgrade in its next release. "We made the decision that the things we were doing wouldn't just be in Longhorn and that we needed to get them into the hands of the current installed base as well. IE 7 is down-level to [Windows] XP, even though somewhat of a superset of it is the browser in Longhorn," said Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates in an interview at WinHEC here last week. In Longhorn, IE will run in its own protected space, thus isolating it from other parts of the operating system. | ||

That is just about the most bizarre and idiotic thing i've seen you write so far Parker, aka Parkker, aka Parkkkker, aka, LinuxIsTheft. And to think this statement comes from the same guy who constantly misinterprets how much of Firefox is based on old netscape code makes it even more bizarre. They "PLAN" to base the code on windows 2003 x64 sp1? Longhorn has been out of the "planning" stage LOOOOOOOOONG before Windows 2003 x64 SP1 was available. Just a comment to the boneheads that thinks that anything that MS has been doing recently is important to anyone outside of the IT community; look at the share price of MS stock.
MS is making a boatload of cash and nobody is interested. Can’t say that about Google or Apple. Longhorn is job 1 for MS. I know it, the Street knows it, and so does MS. Funny thing, they still can’t seem to get it out the door. |

Bring me IE7 anyone! I don't know why but I can't wait for this one. Finally!
I took a look at FF and still have it installed but I ran into some wierd problems... probably because it is more up to date and strict in some ways but anyway. I wish I can put my hand on a beta. I don't want to wait when it ges public in August, that's far. Or was it July? |
