WHO SAID that Microsoft had the dominance in the operating system market? A couple of homebrew efforts appear to be treading new ground in the ever-shrinking sector of niche hardware hacking. First up, from the OS4 team, is the brand spanking new update for Amiga OS 4.0. Thought the Amiga was dead? Think again. The new release includes support for USB mass storage devices and a Kernel update, taking it to 51.20. You can find more details on the release at AmigaWorld. | ||

Well, a couple of people have. Judge Jackson, and the European Commission. And it is upon that determination that all of the antitrust issues rest. The question becomes, at what time does the monopoly label get re-evaluated. Is it up to Microsoft, in a few years once desktop Linux becomes more of a "viable alternative", to go to the courts and ask that the monopoly label be officially removed? I don't think that the antitrust laws say how a company loses monopoly status. |

Homebrew OSes give Microsoft run for money
Ah, yes, they only give Microsoft a run for their money. They don't compete with each other at all! Linux, BSD, Amiga, BeOS, and Mac are actually super good friends, I heard. |
