This update addresses an issue in Windows XP Service Pack 2 that could cause the system to stop responding if certain TDI filter drivers, such as anti-virus software, are installed. You can help resolve this issue by installing this HTTP API update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. | ||

Same here.
Restart after install went right to bios setup page where all drives had been reset to auto. After correcting and completing restart, I went to system restore and the reverted back to before installation. It seems that either on a daily or more frequent basis some idiot comes up with "Hot news" and gets us suckers to try things out. In this case the giveaway seems to be that even Microsoft has no posting of the KB article, only this "magic" download. I presumed that Activewin had some sort of filter for its news, evidently they are willing to repost anything they see, without any testing, verification, or checking. I guess its tims to delete the bookmark to Activewin. |

Fragmore, what are you talking about? What does AWIN have to do with your decision to download an official patch from Microsoft?
No posting of the kb? They posted it the same day the download was made available: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;887742 |
