The release of the open-source Web browser by the Mozilla Foundation last week prompted Microsoft to break the silence about Internet Explorer. Meanwhile, America Online is breathing more life into the Netscape brand with a preview of a new Firefox-based browser scheduled to be unveiled on November 30. | ||

| Too bad Firefox 1.0 still suffers from the sliding image problem with vendor-neutral CSS (leftover issue from Mozilla.) One would think they would have fixed that by now. |

| Other than all the other problems I have had with Firefox 1.0, I wish they would fix the incompatibility with Adobe Acrobat/Reader 6.x. The browser still crashes with it, and they recommend "downgrading" to Adobe 5.x. Hardly a choice, especially with Adobe Acrobat/Reader 7.x being released. |

While i agree that its really a shame that this hasn't been adressed, I personally never quite understood the point of embedding acrobat into the web browser in the first place. |

Firefox Excites Web Browser World
I'm just not seeing a lot of use in our web stats and while we do code to support all browsers on all platforms, I just have not seen any lift in the numbers for Mozilla based browsers. We have seen pretty steady declines in Safari and OSX users year over year from 2001 to present. Others may be seeing some differences, but have not as yet and we do host some material for some younger groups - Foamy toons and what not from iWillPress, etc... where one might see some lift in FF use. It just isn't in the numbers we see. Any one else see any bump opposite what they are hosting? This post was edited by lketchum on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 00:56. |

The above are my stats for my site. No mention of hits from Firefox. But what is surprising is tht the second most used browser after IE is Netscape 5.x. |
