America Online today denied that it is forcing members with Microsoft's Windows XP operating system to upgrade to the latest version of AOL's software. Message boards at the online service contain numerous postings from AOL members about what they've termed AOL's "three strikes and you're blocked" policy for XP users who sign on with older versions of AOL 6.0. | You can still browse the web or anything while downloading aol7. With the 3 strikes, you can still sign on it's just you have to update. I really don't see the big deal here. Have you seen the issues with aol5/6 on winxp? Some of the issues ive heard of is you cannot browse, it takes up all the memory, etc. So what should aol have done, not done this and had thousands of calls per day from angry customers wondering why there incompatible aol software won't work on winxp? Either way aol gets critized, i think they did the fair thing. If you dont want to download the 30 meg aol7 then change isp's. |

| FUD? I think you need to understand that Microsoft is a business as is AOL. FUD is not a tool of Microsoft specifically, it is a tool of business. Business never was about honesty, it's about money. Perhaps a sad truth, but for the majority of businesses it's a truth nonetheless. |
