#5, Those are the best points I have seen on AW!
So true. Small shops have to support the software they develop - no matter how complex.
I was on a two hour call yesterday - training people whio had presented their requirements on the use of their applications we had built for them. It was agony - despite a roles and task based model, numerous examples, many repetitions of the same examples...most was lost on the group.
I felt like crap. I thought, man...may be we missed it entirely; however, at one point I asked, "Okay, now you see the Outlook Icon embedded in the Record...? <they all use Outlook 2003> - a chorus of, "No" was the reply..... - "It is the only icon on the page and looks identical to the Outlook icon you use to open your email...?" ..."No" Followed by, "Oh, you mean the Outlook icon...?" "Yes <loading gun, pointing at own head>"
"Sorry...our blood sugar is low...." "No problem....<pulling trigger (twice)>"
#5 is dead on. People are smart, but they are also really busy, and half the time they have a ton of stuff on their plates. They simply do not have much time to explore a lot of features and they really could care less about tabbed browsing. To assume that they do is a big mistake and this is what Microsoft attends to - a broader look at customer requirements, needs and desires.
