UK government report disagrees with Microsoft on Linux | |

A UK GOVERNMENT REPORT into the viability of open source software has concluded that it is not only a credible alternative to proprietary software like Windows, it will also meet most of the requirements of desktop users. The report, produced by the Office of Government Commerce (OCG), is an independent office of the Treasury, which holds the government's purse strings. It said that the main obstacles to implementing open source software are desktop applications, and the lack of apps to compete with large scale proprietary enterprise level products. | ||

| a GOVERNMENT report? yeah, thats a real step up. We all know what the report's authors (a government IT group) looks like... the hapless sad rejects from the private sector. Government reports should be printed on toilet paper, to avoid confusion. |

hexjam, each and every one of those "paid for" reports are accompanied with the methods used to come to their conclusions. This deflects any bias. Its not fair to simply say "its biased because its sponsored". A legitimate response would be "Its biased because there are errored in their testing methods...".
