Internet Explorer's state of suspended animation has never much bothered Web entrepreneur Adam Stiles, but now he's worried. As founder and CEO of Stilesoft, Stiles has marketed the NetCaptor software as an IE browser for power users. NetCaptor, which uses Microsoft's IE rendering engine to provide browser tabs and other comparatively advanced features, has capitalized on the fact that IE hasn't gotten an all-around feature upgrade in more than three years. | ||

I have a hard time feeling sorry for these folks.
THEY decided to write IE-Only software instead of writing to established Web standards. Now they have to soak in the stew of their own making, or move on. TL |

There is no web standard for these apps.
Some are Windows controls, others are Windows applications that host IE's renderer. |

Microsoft: We released a version of Software product X 2 years ago, and now we have a new version. It has bug fixes, security fixes, and new features our users have asked for.
Ant-MS crowd: Waaaa! You release software too fast, you need to slow down to let people catch up. This is more proof of the M$ tax, and that they are a monopoly because they can force people to upgrade when they choose to force us. I am switching to a different software maker. Microsoft: Our users have asked us for more time between upgrade cycles so that they can standardize on one version. Ant-MS crowd: Waaaa! You don't release software fast enough, you need to speed up to match the latest and greatest technology available. This is more proof of the M$ tax, and that they are a monopoly because they can sit around and do nothing relying on that monopoly forcing people to stick with their software. I am switching to a different software maker. |

| I use NetCaptor and believe it bypasses IE's problems while adding a better tab function and more customization than other browsers. I see this article as a way to generate interest in the product through free publicity. Free publicity can't be beat. |

#5 - Get your head out of the sand. If there weren't any problems, the next version wouldn't fix anything. The next version of Firefox fixes everything the last version broke too. The same is true of any application out there, its not just MS.
What #4 said is completely true. You know how many times MS was beat up for releasing applications too fast? It's been 3 years since a client OS was released, and people are actually ANGRY at MS for releasing something that didn't actually require a full OS upgrade. |

I didn't really read your post, but if you think that there isn't a company out there that is immune to the following statements: "I want your NextRelease/BugFix/ServicePack out RIGHT NOW!" or "I want you to stop releasing Product/Fixes/ServicePacks so I can recover from the LAST patch..." ...then you're a fool. No links necessary. |

The problem is that your rebuttal is often people's opinions of what Microsoft has done. None of that is factual or relevent, I could just as easily cite my opinions of how people hate Linux, or hate Redhat's cycle of one-year releases, or Redhat's support prices, etc. The facts are biasless, the only relevent information does come from the vendor itself.
No, I don't agree with you. And your links are really ... not relevent at all to the topic, to put it nicely. |
