Give me a break, there are a lot of rooted linux boxes out there doing the same thing too. Plus Sendmail is responsible for lots as well.
The real people to blame are the malware coders and the retarded sysadmins that don't know how to lock down a box. |

| Normally, msucks is entertaining. However, his comments about spam are ignorant. Most spam is sent using Linux boxes. Does that mean Linux is responsible for spam? |

I would concede a chunk (<5%), but not close to a good chunk. Spam is not the fault of sendmail, Microsoft, or anyone else except those that prey on the uninformed (i.e. spammers).

#14 It's kind of hard to quantify an exact percentage of how much spam is sent from any given source (hacked windows vs. misconfigured Sendmail servers). For all I know it could be that 75% of all spam comes from windows desktops.
I'll agree that most spam passes through sendmail servers, but as for open Sendmail servers being the source of the spam, I couldn't say. Bobsireno apparantly has a report somewhere that conclusively proves this. |

#14 & #15, I agree, I think my original point was that spam wasn't a windows problem, it's a technology problem spanning multiple vendors.

The secret to not receiving spam is to not use email.
Of course I also get spam in my post office mailbox, and via the telephone. Although not nearly as many Viagra ads. |

But none of the boxes are checked...how is that spam?
