Squabbling over $60 million (~0.1% of their reserves) and creating a moral problem hardly seems to be a good business move. As a shareholder, I completely disagree with this decision. (I'm already displeased with their outsourcing.)
The best employees know their value and will seek to work in places where their abilities are challenged, their skills grow, and they are fairly compensated. Remember, if the good employees are not working for you, then they're working for your competition.
