Apple Computer started marketing yesterday its latest Xserve G5 servers and Xserve RAID storage systems in Taiwan with aggressive pricing that will put pressure on rivals such as IBM, Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Dell and EMC, said Danny Lam, Apple’s product marketing manager for Asia, at a press launch.
Apple’s local subsidiary Apple Taiwan will push its sales of Xserve G5 and Xserve RAID storage systems to Taiwan’s biotechnology companies, shops that handle high-resolution images and companies that require high-speed processing power, Lam said.
The Xserve 5G performs far better than similar models offered by rivals in DNA and gene sequence analysis, Lam claimed.
