| Yeah, because people opening attachments from strangers is obviously a bug in the software. They should really fix that. |

IIRC, MS email clients have never allowed opening of email attachments with a "single" click. As far as I can remember, there's always been a menu that shows the attached file and asks whether you want to save it to a particular location on disk, or open it directly. Also, since about Office 2000 SP2, MS blocks scripts from automatically executing without user intervention by default (not to mention limiting certain attachment types), and I'm pretty sure that saving/opening attachments pops up security UI warning the user of the risks of running the file. |

Two things, from what I've seen and read. 1st. To run this mydoom, you have to save a .zip file, open the .zip file and then execute the contents. 2nd. Mydoom doesn't use any email clients to propogate itself. It has a built in SMTP server, and scans the harddrive to look for email addresses and domain names. I'll give you a pass on the 1st one, but you're clearly pulling a George Bush on the 2nd. |
