Microsoft has posted an update to its for-free Baseline Security Analyzer, a utility for sniffing out misconfigured security settings for most of the company's enterprise software. Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) 1.2, which sports a graphical user interface and runs on Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 Professional, scans applications and operating systems for outdated or incorrectly configured security settings, then produces reports IT administrators can use to detect unpatched -- and vulnerable -- systems and applications.
