With Microsoft deciding to withdraw support for Windows 98 from December 23, Sun Microsystems has decided to hawk its desktop software — Java Desktop System — at a 50 per cent discount to any offer that Microsoft makes. According to Microsoft, the no-charge support for Windows 98 ended on July 1. Paid support will continue at $35 per incident until January 16, 2006, two years after phone support ends on January 16. The list also includes the popular Outlook 2000. | ||

Hey, that's what you gotta do when your software is so inferior to the competition.
Somebody should smack the people who made the decision to compete with Microsoft in the desktop market. It's just stupid. It doesn't many any business sense whatsoever. What's driving it isn't economics, but an irrational hatred of all things MS. Gates is probably having a good laugh. |

| Is there anyone still calling tech support for Windows 98? If you are, here is some advice. Save the $35 your time and effort may be better spent by upgrading to XP. |

How dare someone be so stupid as to even DARE to compete with Microsoft?!? Everyone should just lay down and not worry about competing! I bet you're one of those pro-competition people too huh =) |

#4 - A minor correction
