A study released Sunday found that 31 percent of Americans are “highly tech-savvy” people for whom the Internet, cell phones and handheld organizers are more indispensable than TVs and old-fashioned wired phones. JOHN HORRIGAN, author of the report by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, said the size of this “tech elite” was somewhat surprising. And while this group is predominantly young, the Pew researchers found plenty of baby boomers and seniors who are equally ardent about using technology. | ||

| Soda, have you tried GTA yet? I've been debating getting it. I don't play my XBox very often (I bought it mostly for the DVD-playing option, since I figured why not get a console for a few bucks more than a regular progressive-scan player... that, and for Kung Fu Chaos... I usually feel guilty playing games, especially the epic games that have a plot and take weeks to "solve" or conquer--I'd much rather play something I can play for a 1/2 hour and move on without a sense that I have to finish the level or something like that... I feel like I'm wasting my time, unless I'm playing along with a friend), but I got a kick out of GTA 2 and thought maybe this one is worth it. Is it? |

steven, I think your post proves you to be a Geek, First Class, indeed....
However, this article is retarded and is clearly coming from non-geek sources. These aren't the growing masses of a geek culture... it's simply the next generation of people who expect to have a cellphone by age 10, who purchase more things on the internet than at a store, who expect TV content to be paid and either cable or satellite, who haven't typed a paper, etc... These people are by no means necessarily "tech savvy" at all. Most of the people I know would qualify based on the little I could infer from this story, but it's a much, much, much smaller percentage of them that I, or they themselves, would call a "geek" or a "tech-savvy" person. | jerk, that's exactly what I thought when I read it. Having a PDA and a cell phone doesn't imply that you know anything about how they work...just like having a computer doesn't imply that you know how it works. If position is all it takes to be a geek, then every grandma who can barely open send an email using AOL is a geek. |

Well I purchased the Grand Theft Auto pack, that includes GTA3 and Vice City. Very fun, haven't played the Vice City one yet, but GTA3 is the perfect game to sit down and just waste an hour with.
You don't have to follow the missions, you can go steal a police car and chase down criminals, or go around mugging people. |
