Here are a few exclusive screenshots of Windows Codename Longhorn build 4050. This is the same build of Longhorn that was introduced at the Keynote this morning by Bill Gates and Jim Allchin. The only difference between this specific copy of the OS is that this lacks components from Aero. The Microsoft representative told us that Aero is still under heavy construction and security, to prevent any form of leakage, as the rep himself had never really worked with it. This build is 9 days old (as of tonight), compiled on October 19, 2003. Its version string reads For testing purposes only. Build 4050.private/lab06_demo.031019-1809. This is an internal build and has not been planned to be released to the public. The build handed out to developers at the conference is build 4051, whose version reads Evaluation copy. Build 4051.idx02.031001-1340, compiled October 1.
