Nothing new; Toshiba screwed me up when they did not release an upgrade to Win2003 for the owner of their Pocket PC equipped with Win2002.
Since then I sold my Pocket and my Tablet and I not going to buy anything else from Toshiba. Is this MS fault? I would say not although is clear that the priorities of companies selling software and hardware are greatly different and leaving the latter decide how to handle the release of software programs is a kiss of death for the former. In general I am not going to buy anything I can't buy the related OS separately or, at least, where the OS is shipped in a standalone Cd; I am tired of restore Cds that wipe out all your settings and partitions. About Media Center besides the above mentioned problems I like the concept but I believe that the approach is wrong: I don' t care to have a box in the middle of my living room; I want a server hidden somewhere where I can store all my Cds, movies, pictures, etc. A smart display could be used to handle how and where these media are played in the different rooms. |

Again JWM I don' t think the idea is bad; the way they implemented it is wrong.
You would agree that the idea to be able to play music in any room without the need of a player in each of them it is appealing as it is the possibility of watching movies in the same way. Another thing I don't understand is what is wrong with ViewSonic: one of the strong points of the device was the Nevo card, now not only is not bundled with the display, it is simply not avaialble at all! J, I thought that's what you were referring too. "We don't think people are going to put this in the living room yet" doesn't equate to "The Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 is a poor idea." It is quite obvious that you think it is a poor idea, but you shouldn't put words into someone else's mouth for the sake of your agenda.
