Soda, you use terms that are already in the public consciousness.
"If you don't install this your computer will be attacked," Is pretty clear. Then explain, briefly, the attack mode using small words: "The problem that is fixed with this upgrade is with the print controller." (Side note: use the word "upgrade" rather than "update" or "patch." Users like upgrades, it makes them feel like they've been bumped into first class. Use the word "problem" not "vulnerability." People understand problems, but don't understand a vulnerability.)
It's a little marketing, a little psychology, and a little blind hope, I'll admit. But it's a far cry better to the layman than "There is a buffer overflow in the stack of the LPT redirector..." (or something like that.)
