More Great Plains Customers Switch to NetSuite | |

Facing massive upgrade costs as a result of Microsoft's recent efforts to migrate users to SQL Server and .Net, RLE Technologies, which manufactures water leak detection and web-enabled monitoring products, found itself in an IT quandary. In addition, RLE Technologies was frustrated with the sales order processing feature in its legacy Great Plains software as well as the costs and complexity associated with using different systems to run its business -- ACT! for CRM and Great Plains for accounting. RLE decided to implement NetSuite to run its entire business. With NetSuite, RLE has a single system to handle business processes from quote to order to fulfillment to cash. Additionally, NetSuite's CRM features have allowed RLE to boost its customer service efforts by providing employees a single view of customer interaction. As a result, the company has slashed order-processing time by 50 percent; cut tens of thousands of dollars associated with maintaining disparate software; and saved $25,000 in upgrade, implementation and training costs. | ||

When MS purchased Great Plains I expected great things. Clearly the road has been an uphill battle and this is ending up to be a money looser. Micrsoft doesn't seem to fully capable in the "service" arena ( CRM, HRP, MSN....).
SAP, Ariba and PeopleSoft are light years ahead of MS in their respective areas. |

Wow! Can you imagine an Oracle product beating out a Microsoft on price! Stop the world - this is an amazing circumstance!!! lol
By the way, a May 03 PC Mag article compared these two products among others and stated the Oracle product was priced at $4500 for three users and $50 per user thereafter. The Microsoft product was priced at $395 - $1295 plus $995 for the server. Is this author's math out of whack or what? To be fair, PC Mag gives Microsoft's product only a good rating overall. Yet, states it is a great 1.0 version product. However, as Monkeydog points out above, Microsoft is working to put out a more polished and integrated product. I had to smirk at this - the author states, "RLE Technologies, which manufactures water leak detection and web-enabled monitoring products, . . ." Huh? Water leak detection and web-enabled monitoring products? Yeah, those are related products! |
