UN XML project gets Microsoft support | |

A United Nations (UN) project that uses XML (Extensible Markup Language) to give small and medium-sized companies an alternative to paper forms when doing business across borders has won support from Microsoft. At a UN conference in Geneva yesterday, the software giant demonstrated how the product, called UNeDocs, would work in Microsoft's InfoPath application. Details of the prototype InfoPath implementation will be released within 30 days, Microsoft said. | ||

I love InfoPath. I could play with it all day. It is so much more interesting and powerful than OneNote will be to 99% of businesses out there, yet all the promotion is for OneNote. I just don't get it. InfoPath is awesome. This post was edited by ToddAW on Sunday, May 18, 2003 at 23:20. |

Yeah, I think InfoPath requires a change in doctrine at many companies, which is why MS isn't pushing it as much. I think they think it'll just bleed into companies as people realize it's potential.
As far as OneNote, I think MS hopes it will be the "killer app" for TabletPCs and spark a TPC revolution, but I'm not so sure. If they could make a desktop, laptop, tabletpc, I might consider, but right now they either have all or nothing, or cumbersome, heavy hacks which does neither laptop or TPC role very well |

| I think it will take a while to find the best way to utilize the concepts. Wait for the second release of InfoPath before it takes off full scale... |
