The Mozilla project, largely sponsored by AOL-TimeWarner, has taken a dramatic turn. Team leaders have advised Mozilla developers to abandon the "swiss army knife" approach for smaller and lighter applications, according to a statement posted on the mozilla.org site today. In the statement, team leaders Brenden Eich and David Hyatt take the criticism on the chin, and the team has also vowed to tighten up its development methodology. | ||

Cleaner, lighter Mozilla? So you mean no more Java? WOOHOO!
Actually, I couldn't care less since Mozilla isn't really that great. |

So you mean no more Java?" Java has nothing to do with Mozilla other than being a plugin for ANY browser. Java isn't included in mozilla so u obviously dont know what you're talking about. "Actually, I couldn't care less since Mozilla isn't really that great." Thats your OPINION and you are entitled to it. But this statement sure adds a lot of new interesting points to this discussion we didnt know about before. |

The only thing I like about Mozilla is the tabbed browsing (which isn't particularly special) and the ability to turn off certain javascript functions (like pop-ups, resizing, etc...).
These two features aren't enough to switch, as there are many more things about it that are more annoying. |

#9: I was under the impression that a majority of Mozilla was written in Java which would explain it's slow speed, but after browsing the source, I see it's a mix of Java and C++.
And yes, I forced myself to use Mozilla on several occasions, but it doesn't last very long because it's not long before I hit a site that doesn't work in Mozilla. Opera is even worse. I can't bank, pay bills, check my web email, or about a dozen other things in either mozilla or Opera. Mozilla is cool, but not very useful. As for pop-ups and such, neither browser seems to block everything, so I'm forced to use Proxomitron anyhow, so if I'm doing that, there's no reason NOT to use IE. |
