Plus Digital Media Edition--a Windows XP add-on for digital media enthusiasts--moves to shrink-wrap packaging and adds a couple of downloadable freebies Monday. As of Monday, some 8000 retailers--including giants Amazon.com, Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, and Wal-Mart--will begin carrying the shrink-wrapped edition for the same $20 as the download version, Microsoft representatives say. | ||

| I wouldn't call it a waste of money. There are a number of features that are very usable. Specifically, the audio conversion will convert files from MP3 to WMA and vice versa. Analog Recorder does a good job recording from tape/LP to MP3/WMA format (not as powerful as Cool Edit, but it works). Also I've found Photo Story to be useful. Some of the other stuff (dancer, party mode, etc) is just "fluff". |
