Intel has just released a new driver pack called 'Intel Application Accelerator'. The Intel® Application Accelerator is a new performance software package for Intel desktop PCs. Intel® Application Accelerator reduces the storage sub-system bottleneck, enabling the processor and other system level hardware to be more productive and efficient. | Has anyone tried this yet? Last time I tried to install new Intel chipset drivers a few months ago they completely hosed my system. Please post your experiences. |

Actually Intel's motherboards have been and continue to be the most popular ones used by major manufacturers since the Pentium was first introduced.
For example, the SE440BX, CA810, CA815EA all have been and continue to be the primary boards shipped by manufacturers such as Dell, Gateway, etc. in their computers. I have two Gateways, one with a VS440FX and another with a OC440LX Intel board in them. Very few manufacturers take the time to make their own these days because of cost factors. If they do it's only in their server product with higher margins. This is also apparent when you begin to look at benchmarks and see the machines all performing quite similarly. |
