Goldman Sachs cut Microsoft from its Investment List. Analyst Rick Sherlund says it is difficult to show 20% absolute performance required by the Investment List unless there is real strength in corporate IT spending. He says investors had high expectations for an upside surprise, but expectations got ahead of fundamentals. | ||

Don't even bother getting your feathers ruffled Drestin. :) No one has a clue what is going to happen tomorrow in the market and I think its been proven (especially within the last 3 years) that no investment firm knows what in the hell is going on.
This is the same investment firm that recommended investment in Tyco and GM (highest debt to equity ratio in the world). Cough cough, yeah, smart move. Investing as I see it and as some of the most astute investors in the world see it (e.g. Warren Buffet) is extremely simple... without going into details, I think you'd agree. You name me something 'genius' that any investment firm has done or recommended... try it. Nobody knows whats going to happen tomorrow in the market and everyone is all flustered right now. What many don't seem to realize is, crazily enough, EVERYONE has lost money. Anyone who tells me they haven't lost a penny and have been 'beating' the market since the downturn began, please... go smoke another joint. Anyway, I'm rustling my own feathers! ;) Microsoft is the healthiest company in the world, period. Invest in what you will but learn to completely ignore analysts and investment firms... they get you nowhere you can't go on your own. Well there is a very sound philosophy that if you invest in a relatively solid company (i.e. good growth potential, no debt, relatively low P/E, etc...) you WILL make money in the market on the long-term so long as you sit on it and be patient.
Dollar cost averaging Microsoft has been a goldmine for me over the past 10 years and I can't tell you how many other companies you could do the same with and be just as happy. :) I've lost money on Microsoft as well, but having just stuck it out, they've always paid me back. I have never and cannot forsee any reason to advise against investing in that company if you are long-term minded. Short-term??? There are plenty of other companies (e.g. Cisco), but I look for money 10 years from now, not 10 months from now. With that, its time to go flying! Sun is out, no wind, wee hoo! I'm off. Andy |

I found their recommended tech sector investment firms on MSN MoneyCentral but cannot seem to find the damn link again. If I stumble on it, I'll send it over. I'd try looking there though. If you can't find it there and you are really that curious, you can call them on the phoen and they'll give you a link to their site where you can login as a guest and see what they've got. Not sure if you're that interested though. I can tell you this, Sun Microsystems was on their list not 3 months ago... sheesh. Andy |
