Corel Linux was dumped by Corel and taken over by another company and distributed as their own distro now. Xandros. Corel was losing money on their Linux OS investment so they sold the rights to the OS to Xandros in exchange for a small percentage. |

Chapter 11 doesn't mean going out of business. It is just a way to reorganize, and keep their creditors at bay.
Every one that has never purchased Mandrake before, that uses it, please buy a copy. Thanks |

Perhaps you misunderstood the business model, EWW. You don't buy the product, but somehow the company is still supposed survive. Don't you remember that Linux is cheaper than Windows and Linux is always free? This post was edited by BobSmith on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at 22:06. |

Chapter 11, at least in the U.S., I'm not sure about Socialist France, is a court-ordered reorganization where the court suspends debt and puts you on a schedule to repay all your debts in a timely manner. Part of this is negotiating with debtors for better schedules or even reducing some of the debt.
The assumption is that you have a viable business model, you just got in over your head and can't keep up. The problem here is, they don't have a viable business model and they won't ever be able to pay anyone back because THEY GIVE THEIR PRODUCT AWAY FOR FREE, DUH! Jesus, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure this out guys. |

BobSmith, Linux is free, but you can buy it at stores if you choose, with CD's and manual. I use both Windows and Linux as this is the best solution. How would you like it if Microsoft had no competiton, and the courts busted it up?
No, the best way to insure that Microsoft and Linux survives is to use both, and buy both. But one point in Linux favor is that you can buy Mandrake 9.0 for 29.00, but it costs at least 80.00 for Windows XP Home edition, and then you have to buy a mouse or something. Think about the big picture, what ifs, and what those what ifs could cause, and you will understand my reasonings here. |
