U.S. President George Bush's new administration will not influence Microsoft court proceedings in one of the most debated antitrust cases in history, an influential Republican lawmaker said Friday. Orrin Hatch, senator from Utah and chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said he expected the new Republican administration would not intervene in the case against software giant Microsoft Corp. The company is appealing a trial court ruling that it abused its power and should be split in two to prevent further antitrust violations.
