Microsoft revolutionizes sewing technology | |

The new Bernina artista 200E is the latest sewing technology in 2002. The machine can embroider designs from a CD-ROM. Images also can be downloaded from the Internet via the sewing machine’s modem. This new machine is nothing like Grandma’s. The Bernina 730 was the latest in sewing machine technology in 1964. It featured five stitch lengths, was threaded by hand, had five shiny knobs on the front and was operated by a foot pedal. My, how times have changed. The artista 200E, the latest offering from Bernina, offers more than 800 stitches, threads itself, cuts the thread for you, tells you when you’ve left the presser foot up and offers a dizzying array of choices on a mini computer screen. | ||

| I think that that 1964 model that is mentioned is the model that my mom still uses <rolls eyes>. I think that I'll send her the link to this article. Maybe she'll get with the times...... naaa. |

FWIW, sewing has gone hi-tech. There are quite a number of embroidery machines that connect to a PC. Also, quite a bit of software that helps design embroidery patterns, digitize direct from photos/designs, etc.
Although my wife doesn't have a Bernina, she has one similar. Incredible technology. Kirk - don't get out too much, huh? RedHook - grab a dishtowel. |
