As one of Microsoft Corp.'s model customers, Keith Raffel expected the software giant to lend his Silicon Valley startup, UpShot Corp., a helping hand in outmaneuvering the competition. Instead, Microsoft, which on Friday emerged from its five-year antitrust battle as strong as ever, became the competition. Sitting at a desk bought in a two-for-$25 deal from a used furniture seller, Raffel built his Mountain View, Calif., company into a 100-employee operation. UpShot's business management software sits on top of computer-server and database platforms by Microsoft, whose Silicon Valley campus is a mile away. ''We're a poster child for Microsoft's Web services vision,'' Raffel said. | ||

Arkansas, apparently Microsoft should forever sell EXACTLY what they sell today. Never introducing a new product, because we all know every idea is already taken. And they should never add a single bit of functionality, because there is likely a piece of freeware/shareware that already makes that change.
Oh, wouldn't that make for a healthy industry. And the cost to the consumer? Twice as much! I feel for companies like Upshot, but companies sometimes meet with competition. Thats BUSINESS! You know, I noticed that Burger King now has tacos on their menus. Doesn't that put the hurt on my one-off local Mexican restaurant? You see, thats NO different that MS vs Upshot. Do you realize that agreeing with the troll - nom - lessens your position, JWM?
As for your previous statement - If Linux had Microsoft's money behind it (and with Sun's, IBM's, Oracle's, etc there shouldn't be a lack of money), Linux might be an OS that I would use. As it stands, it is far inferior to Windows. |

| JWM - think of the local mexican restaurant as Linux or OSX. You see, people CHOOSE to developer for Windows. They aren't forced to do so. |
