Mech games are enjoying a bit of a renaissance lately with titles like Mech Assault, Steel Battalion and Phantom Crash stomping (or about to stomp) all over the marketplace. Infogrames is set to get in on the fun with Battle Engine Aquila, a new biggie-sized robot simulator from the little-known developer Lost Toys. Battle Engine Aquila may sound like a Mexican entrant on BattleBots, but this mech's got gameplay legs to stand on.
BEA opens with a montage of gameplay footage, but since the scenes are completely out of context, they aren't especially compelling. The intro at least imparts the epic nature of the gameplay, as swarms of aircraft, battalions of battle tanks, and hundreds of tiny soldiers engage in an orgy of combat.
