Satellite is good for those who have absolutely no other choice, and must have high-speed (relatively) access.
There are some serious considerations concerning Satellite, though.
1. Speeds aren't always as impressive as advertised according to most I've heard from.
2. It's useless for gaming due to the high-latencies involved (very high, in fact).
3. Some companies have bizarre use policies that can affect your download speeds at unpredictable times.
4. It can be very expensive and is usually metered service.
I can agree with all four above. I had DirecPC for about 6 months, and simply could not live with it's limitations as indicated above.
I decided that 128k/128k ISDN at $100 a month for 60 B-Channel Hours was a better package for me.
That was a few years back. Luckily, I have Cable now...
