ISO-only format for New Windows Software on MSDN Subcriber Downloads | |

Due to overwhelming demand for ISO images, we will be moving to an ISO-only format for all Windows images on MSDN Subscriber Downloads. New versions, such as Windows .NET Server, will be posted in ISO-only format, and eventually all products will be ISO format. ISO images are bootable, and can be extracted to CD or a file location by using either CD burning software, or by using a 3rd party utility. | ||

| Currently they use a self extracting exe. Sometimes they also provide ISO's. I'm annoyed that I'll have to burn an ISO to install software now. That seems rather foolish to me. |

Try Undisker... Or WinImage I think will do ISO.
There's a number of utilities out there that will let you view ISOs and extract the contents. |

My favorite is DAEMON tools...
http://www.daemon-tools.net/main.htm It allows you to mount the ISO images just like another drive. Very good stuff. I really do wish this was included in the base OS as it makes tons of sense. What I do is rip DVD's to my hard drive to play on my laptop. I can play about 3 and a half hours of DVD from my hard drive as opposed to an hour and a half using the dvd rom. Peace, RA |

Uncle Larry to the rescue... :) Just download a utility called Daemon Tools (Google is your friend). Once installed, you can mount any ISO file you want and DT will place it in a virtual CD-ROM with it's own drive letter and all. Daemon Tools is not only free, but is considered by many, including myself, to be the best virtual CD-ROM software available. It's also great for running images of your Game CD's instead of having to put wear & tear on the orginal's. Just image once, and put the CD away. TL |
