Former Microsoft Corp. employee Justin Robbins was sentenced to seven months for distributing bootleg copies of copyrighted software. Robbins, who already has been jailed for 3 1/2 months, will serve the rest of his sentence in a residential drug and psychological treatment facility. He's the last of 15 people sentenced for conspiring to infringe thousands of computer program copyrights. "I want to apologize for the crime itself," said Robbins, 26, who had pleaded guilty. "It took me a long time to acknowledge what I did."

I doubt it's possible to go through a day without breaking a law of some sort.

Some states down south have some ancient laws based on the Bible, so it is possible that even staying in bed all day, depending on the day of the week, could violate a law. But other than that, I bet TL is right.

Cthulhu, hope you aren't speaking negatively on the South. Because that could get you in trouble...

Morindin,
I am with you, I am from the "great white north" as well, and damnit, ppl drive 140km/h o the 400 series highways all the time...so just jack the limit and then we can all be happy.
same thing about weed..they talk about legalizing it, just do it and get it over with....might as well tax it to while there at it..I love it how things that "were" illegal, become legal and then they rape us in tax on it (Alcohol/Prohibition...read your history books)
anyways..that's my .0000001 cent...

Morindin, why stop with cigarettes? MANY more INNOCENT people are killed on our highways from drunk drivers than by second-hand smoke. You seem awfully willing to limit someone else's (smoker's) freedom... but are you willing to stop drinking yourself? I suggest you are not willing to do that. And until you are, then stop trying to tell me what to do.
ps... I don't smoke or drink.

#7,
I think you need to re-read the threads here. Not one of the postings here was cutting the guy any slack.
You kinda took a branch in the road that no one here paved :)

You poisoning yourself can affect others. In that regard, there should be enforced laws against such behavior.

Monindin - "What about the freedom of people who do not want second-hand smoke... or those that get lung cancer due to your smoke..."
What about the freedom of people innocently driving down the road and don't want to be hit by a drunk driver... or those that get cirrhosis of the liver... or those that suffer from alcoholism... or babies with fetal alcohol syndrome... or wives that are beaten by a drinking husband... or dates that are raped... all due to the quick-n-easy availability of alcohol...
Now, mind you... I don't think alcohol should be banned... but of these two "evils" (smoking/drinking)... drinking has destroyed FAR more. Do I care? Nope, not until people like you start pushing others around. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS... is a motto we could all benefit from.
Morindin... you talk about the tobacco companies altering drug content... but is that ANY worse than the beer companies adding lemonaid flavor to beer? Nope. BOTH practices are meant to keep the customers coming in the door.
A don't forget the way beer companies advertise to minors (Those Coor's ads with John Elway, Hank Aaron and other "heroes" definitely affect children? OR the scantily dressed models selling beer to men (and teenage boys).
And finally... you seem to think drinking isn't an unhealthy practice. Well, regardless of the confusion of the latest press release (alternating the story of "wine is good for you" and "wine is bad for you")... there IS a reason that a doctor always asks these two questions...
1. Do you drink?
2. Do you smoke?

Well, just a thought most tobacco comapanies don't tell you when they alter drug content. They tell you when it's lemon flavored beer. :-)

Ha Bob. True.
However, they DO tell you they alter the drug content by having LIGHT, ULTRA LIGHT, REGULAR, and ?extra long? cigs.
Hope that makes sense... I'm all loopy and I smell of citrus...
