Nanotechnology company NTera has demonstrated batteries that are able to charge and discharge at up to 10 times the rate of current lithium ion (Li-ion) technology and still provide 70% of the available energy in the battery.
Battery efficiency is measured in Cs. C is defined as the rate required to fully charge or discharge a battery/cell in one hour.
Justin Adam, general manager of the battery group at NTera, said: "Current Li-ion technology is limited to a charge/discharge rate of 2C while we achieved excellent results at 10 and 20C."
