Microsoft Corp. traditionally has steered clear of telecommunications regulators and legislators, but the software giant is raising its profile in Washington in a bid to spur rapid deployment of more affordable high-speed networks. The Redmond, Wash., company views faster, cheaper pipes, particularly emerging wireless broadband networks, as a conduit for selling more software applications and services. | ||

Wow. A company that actively tries to get into new markets, expand its product line, serve new customers, etc.
Judging by most companies lately, you'd think that the way companies are supposed to compete is through the courts. |

"Microsoft Corp. traditionally has steered clear of telecommunications regulators and legislators" Umm, is that why there are considerable numbers of ex-Microsoft employees in the FCC, NIPC, security committees, telecomm committees, economic committees; contributed more funds last year than Enron, have invested in or made deals with all of the Baby Bells, cable co's, and other alternative providers, etc, etc, etc... "As the sole industry representative testifying among policy experts" Are we supposed to believe MS is the only one interested in building business, or is it more plausible to presume their hand's sticking the biggest wad in the Congress's pocket? |
