Lindows, the maker of a consumer-friendly version of the Linux operating system, announced Tuesday that it would bundle Netscape Communication's Web browsing and communication technology into its software. The start-up software maker collaborated with Netscape's corporate parent company AOL Time Warner to integrate Netscape 7.0 into LindowsOS version 2.0, which was released last week. | ||

| On a related note: we tested Lindows 2.0 here, and it still failed. It does let you map Windows network shares now, though, so that's the only improvement I've seen. (And SAMBA already did that for Linux, so I just don't see the point of this.) |

I'd rather have Windows be the only option in the desktop areana. "And also kill that shitty thing called KDE" I have the same opinion of Linux in general. |

#12, you are so right. The portage model Gentoo is working with just plain rules. Gentoo and Slackware are the only Linux distros worth a crap.
That being said, Windows still rules as a desktop OS. I don't care what anyone says, Linux is just not ready yet. As for killing a desktop, how about killing Gnome? KDE just seems more intuitive, which is exactly what is needed. Or better yet: KDE and Gnome merge and make one good desktop rather than the choice there is now: two mediocre ones. |

MSDE - Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine
VisualStudio .NET is Microsoft's integrated development environment, which has a primary use of developing .NET applications. XML Spy is one of the foremost XML IDE's. It is produced by Altova. There are rather substantial differences between Microsoft Office 2000 and Microsoft Office XP. If the difference were so slight, then WINE shouldn't have a problem with it, now should it? Further, if it is so insignificant, why would they bother to try to support it, if they already support Office 2000? |
