This download is a patch which corrects a security vulnerability. The vulnerability could be exploited by creating a web page that references a Visual FoxPro 6.0 application. If Visual FoxPro 6.0 is installed, and the filename of the application was constructed correctly, the application would execute. This would enable the application to not only interrogate databases, but also issue system commands in the user’s security context. Any users of Visual FoxPro 6.0 should download and apply this update. | ||

Maybe anyone who is still so attached to VFP that they would connect it to a web site deserves to have their system trashed.
I was a huge Fox fan from FoxBase+ 2.10, through the Rushmore breakthroughs of FoxPro 1.0 and 2.0, through the remarkable cross-platform FoxPro 2.5-2.6 for DOS/Win16/SCO Unix, through the Microsoft acquisition (or "merger" as the letter from Dave Fulton and Bill Gates said), through the buggy days of VFP 3.0 while the developers moved from Ohio to Washington and tried to make it work on Win32s for Windows 3.1. To old friends from DevCons: HEY! I forgot to call and WAKE YOU UP! It's 2002, for crying out loud. VFP 7.0 got pulled from VS because it can't work with .NET. It could never be compiled. It's got a freakin' feature called macro substitution that somebody forgot to get rid of! It's not a real language! We were just pretending all those years. Rednecks in Arkansas are learning VB .NET and ASP .NET. Get with the program already! |
