.Net Server's new name suggests delay | |

Microsoft has once again tweaked the name of the successor to Windows 2000 Server, in a move that suggests its official release won't come until next year. During the Redmond, Wash.-based company's annual employee meeting this week, executives revealed that the follow-up to Windows 2000 Server will be called Windows .Net Server 2003. Microsoft developed the high-end operating system under the code-name Whistler. In April 2001, it officially named the product Windows 2002 Server. Microsoft later changed the name to Windows .Net Server and has now added 2003 to the product. | ||

| CNET haters... be comforted knowing that they are almost out of business. Did anyone else notice how razor thin the latest issue of eweek is? NO ADVERTISERS LEFT. No wonder... they pander to the opensource crowd and we all know they have no money. |

I won't be happy until all known monikers are used...
Microsoft Windows .NET .COM .ORG .EDU Server, Simply Basic Enterprise Advanced Professional Edition XP(squared times pie divisible only by a prime) 2003. Now that's a name I want to see printed on my "official" holographic, serialized, hacker proof, copy prohibited, product activated DVD babeeeeee!!! LOL |

pthurrott - Heh. I agree. I was wondering about that headline considering I thought Microsoft already said they were delaying .Net server to early 2003 release as part of their security review. So yeah, it's been delayed, but the new name says nothing of that.
BTW, funny thing and I pointed a few more people your way! On Wednesday we had our XP deployment meeting and the subject of SP1 came up. A couple people at the meeting said "Well our Microsoft rep told us it should be up for download tomorrow." I responded, "Yeah, but I just received Paul's WinInfo newsletter and he's saying next week." Well it's friday and it turns out you were probably right! So, I convinced them to subscribe to your newsletter. :) mooresa56 - So is Infoworld. I've had it with that rag. The latest Brian Livingston windows column was a joke. Sent them a letter telling to fire the clown and hire Paul! :) |

| sodablue - really? Honestly, I hadn't noticed InfoWorld being as bad, but I only read the articles online. I've had a couple of emails returned from CNET's Joe Wilcox and he has a vendetta, at a minimum. |
