Judge weighs ordering Microsoft to install Java | |

The judge overseeing Sun Microsystems Inc.'s antitrust suit against Microsoft Corp. said he will consider ordering the world's largest software company to include Sun's Java programming language in its Windows operating system. "There are serious allegations that irreparable harm might be suffered. I have an obligation to take it seriously," U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz said yesterday. He said issuing such an order "would be a rather profound act that would change the whole nature of the market." | ||

Why should java get preferential treatment? Why not force MS to include cold fusion also? Why stop there, why not force them to include the “frame work” for Word Perfect and level the playing field? See where I am going with this?

You bet it would! It would mean that this Country has become "The United Socialist States of America"! I mean do these people realize what a rule like this would mean in broader terms? It would jeopardize the economic principles governing this Country , it is ridiculous and scared at the same time. The U.S. judicial system is based on "The common law" so a rule like this could be used by other companies to backup similar claims and even if the outcome would be unsuccessful the uncertainty and the chaos would undermine any recovery. |

| Hey if Fat People can sue the fast food industry for being fat, then why the hell can't Sun use the Courts to get there product put back into Windows? This world is going down fast.... |
