This is just another example of Netscape's cluelessness. 4.x was a lost cause years ago, it sucked and doesn't render HTML standards correctly.
They should be investing all energies into Netscape 6. Y2kFox - Any company which is still using Netscape 4.x is probably not smart enough to know how to distribute an upgrade to 4.8 anyway, so again why bother? |

| One would THINK that the Linux people would want to know that it was available, but less than 5 minutes after it was available I informed Slashdot...story was rejected. Apparently, new browser news isn't important to them. More proof of Linux' backwardsness. |

You forget about the many, many corporations that still use Netscape Communicator and Netscape Servers for their email needs. Also, Netscape 6.x has not been a good product in corporate settings, thus it has been skipped by many if not most. LDAP support is one of the big problems in Netscape 6. LDAP support in Outlook 2002 is effectively broken, so that's not an option. Outlook 2000 LDAP works _ok_, but not every company uses, or wants to use, Exchange Servers. A lot of companies are still Novell based and have no intention to change. Which brings us to Netscape 4.8... TL |

No, they are NOT clueless. They are supporting the many companies still running Netscape Email Systems, and have no desire or intention to change. Netscape 6 is a disaster in a Corporate setting. I've seen it and lived it. TL |
