Creative Labs has just, silently, released a new revision 3219 of its WDM (Windows Driver Model) drivers for the Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 serie of sound card. This new drivers were released by Creative Asia and carry the build number 3219. I've just tested them and they do work fine on our Windows 2000 Pro SP2 test machine. This new release fixes several issues, users complain about since several months:
- AC3 Passthrough Issues under Windows 2000 are fixed,
- loud startup volume: fixed,
- AutoEAX not loading: fixed,
- SMP and EAX woes seem to be fixed,
- Some Hibernation & StandBy Issues under Windows 2000 seem to be solved by this release (make sure to click the 'Disable Speakers when using headphones' option for proper resume).
You can download these drivers right now (2.4Mb). However as with every good thing, there's a drawback. Indeed installing the drivers will break on some machine Surround Mixer & MiniDisc Center applications (FYI it seems that reinstalling the LiveWare 3.0, with the option to not overwrite drivers, fixes the issues).
