Tired of IE? Try these 3 alternative browsers | |

Which Web browser do you use? If you're like most people, the answer is probably Internet Explorer. Perhaps you use IE because it came pre-installed on your PC. Or because it's the de facto standard for Web developers. Maybe you continue to use it simply because it's ubiquitous. After all, it's the most popular Web browser out there, so it must be the best, right? Not necessarily. Internet Explorer might be widely accepted, but it's certainly not the only game in town. The current crop of alternative browsers offers much of the speed, flexibility, and power of Internet Explorer--plus some appealing extras that the behemoth browser doesn't have. Here are a few of my favorite alternative browsers. | ||

Of the browsers mentioned, I have used them all except the NetCraftor thingy. I've also used browsers that they didn't even mention. And in comparison to IE, they all suck. IE works. IE is simple, and IE is fast.

Tired of IE?
No, not really. But I found out this weekend that Stronghold(a game from Firefly studios) installs spyware on your computer if you say yes to the prompt asking to install multiplayer support. Turns out the multiplayer support is from Gamespy which installs Webhancer without asking. Webhancer in turn is a poorly written piece of software which is designed to destroy your experience with the internet by making all initial requests to websites take 20 seconds instead of sub-second response. |

If you don't have it yet, try Ad-Aware. It is great at removing spyware, and it is free. Get it at http://www.warp2search.net in their downloads section.
IE Rules in the Windows arena. But for Linux, use Netscape or Mozilla, IMO, as they are rock solid there. |

| Since Internet Explorer isn't available on Linux, obviously I'd have to use something else. Oh wait, I have no need for Linux, since Windows serves my needs and the needs of 95% of users. |

I, too, stick with IE because it's the best.
I can guarantee you that at least half of the people who don't use IE do so not because of any substantive reason, but rather because they have spite for Microsoft. Many of these people will jump from non-IE browser to non-IE browser (like finicky kittens), forever (and hopelessly) trying to get comfortable. |

| #11 You can always use TweakXP to kill the pop ups. It will also kill ads from web pages themselves if you want. That way you can continue to use the best browser on earth....Internet Explorer. |
