Windows Meda Player looks like ass? Hmm, that's odd. I thought it was Real Player that looked like ASS.

ActiveWin had the story almost a full 30 minutes before NeoWin. But you're right, #4, AWin chose not to violate MS's rights and post a link or screenshots.

I think they all look pretty good. But don't expect much difference graphically in WMP9 (least not this release)

Real One looks good in that "It's spyware and I'm losing all my privacy" sort of way.

#13-because they credited the four people who told them. <edit>I humbly retract my statement</edit>

#16: NeoWin doesn't have a PPC page. They have a WAP/Cellphone page.
Also, NeoWin announced their Klip and RSS feeds after ActiveWin did.

I installed it!
But don't do it.
First of all I had many problems with my ZoneAlarm Personal Firewall and the program. I had to manually crash the WMA application a few time (it wouldn't close; a error window kept occuring).
But even after rebooting and turning the ZoneAlarm off, a lot of bugs occur. I had some video's that didn't show any video; sound was there. Others work but I couldn't make up if they running faster. I also tried to download even files from www.windowsmedia.com that fail.
Wait till a better version comes along.

No problems here. I'm using Sygate Personal Firewall Pro though.

What I want is to be able to remove some of those buttons on the side, because I just flat out don't need things like Media Guide and the Skin Chooser.

#19,
At first glance, this would seem to indicate that WMP 9 is trying awfully hard to phone home. Is ZA recording the attempts ?

Oh my. Real Player's interface just plain sucks. Not to mention it's poor quality and spyware techniques. Real Player is the absolute bomb....as in utter crap.

Jagged, I don't mean to hide the whole thing, I still use other things such as the CD ripping, burning, and Media Library.
#26, There is nothing awful looking about WMP, it's got a very sleek design.

#23 You jump to conclusions. Many features in Windows Media Player deal with the Internet - the media guide when starting the player, updating of track information for existing media, fetching track information for the CD currently in your CD drive. I'm not saying it isn't spyware, I'm just saying that you first should rule out the several Internet based features before you start FUDing the product.

As far as I'm concerned, this leaked build shows that WMP9 will definitely be kickass when released. Even though there are missing features in the build, what is there is simply great (including many of the organizational features Steve Jobs mentioned at MacWorld concerning iTunes3). I can't wait for the preview in September and the subsequent final release. I also can't help but wonder what WMP10 will bring.

Just like Internet Explorer, I hope they don't fix what aint broke. The current interface for WMP is the best one out there (without skin application)
