#4: In and of itself, being a monopoly is not illegal. However, abusing you monopoly to prevent competition IS illegal, because history has shown us that these kinds of monopolies keep prices high and innovation low -- the status quo in other words. MS was found guilty of this by both the US and the EU, so it's a given. It's also part of what steams a lot of people like me. I have to hear weekly from MS that they're all about innovation and choice, and how competition is good for everyone. Well, if that's the case, why do they illegally abuse their monopoly to crush said competition, unless they're a bunch of hypocritical jerks? I, for one, don't look too fondly on hypocrisy. Which is also why I bristle when I hear MS whining about its IP rights being violated, meanwhile it's busy stealing the IP of anyone it thinks it can get away with (Sendo, Burst).
